The Mezquita Cathedral
Cordoba has one of the most fascinating architectural masterpieces. The great mosque of Cordoba was built in the 8th century and since the 16th century has a cathedral at its centre. Visually its a huge contrast of the imposing chancel (Capilla Mayor), a gothic cathedral looming to the heavens compared with the forest of pillars and double arched ceiling of the mosque. There are not many places under the same roof where to my left I see a cathedral and to my right I see a mosque. This is what makes it an architectural wonder.
